The governing body of ASET is the Council. Council is empowered to:
- Act on behalf of ASET to implement the applicable requirements of the EGGPA
- Establish and revise policies which govern ASET's activities
- Delegate authority and responsibility for implementation of ASET's policies to the Chief Executive Officer or any other staff member
- Control the management, direction and administration of the business and finances of ASET
The Council's Executive Committee consists of the President, First Vice President, Second Vice President and the immediate Past President. Councillors (at least six) serve two-year terms, and the President and Vice-Presidents serve one-year terms. At least three public members are appointed in accordance with the EGGPA, and Council may appoint ex-officio members. The National Director of CCTT is also an ex-officio member of Council.
