Internationally Trained

Internationally trained professionals follow the same application process as all other applicants. To be certified by ASET, all applicants must meet a minimum national benchmark for education, experience and professionalism.

Applicants with practical experience in countries other than Canada must have at least one full year of appropriate Canadian experience in the applicable field of technology for certification, as well as references to verify the experience outside of Canada. Some exceptions apply.

While gaining Canadian experience, the applicant may be eligible for Associate membership with ASET.

Citizenship

Canadian citizenship or landed immigrant status is required for ASET certification. Individuals in Alberta on visitor or student visas are not eligible to apply.

TOEFL

ASET does not require applicants to write the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). However, ASET reserves the right to request the TOEFL should there be any indications that communication is a concern for the applicant.
