
ERIEC Career Mentorship
If you are an internationally-trained professional in applied science or engineering technology and are currently unemployed or underemployed in Alberta you may qualify for mentoring support via the ASET partnership with the Edmonton Region Immigrant Employment Council.
To qualify for mentoring with the Edmonton Region Immigrant Employment Council, the mentee must:
- Be a landed immigrant or permanent resident
- Be ready for employment in their area of expertise
- Be unemployed or underemployed
- Have a job ready resume and have completed a job search workshop
- Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent post secondary education obtained outside Canada
- Have at least three years work experience in their area of expertise outside Canada and no prior Canadian work experience in their field
- Have completed an international qualifications assessment, e.g. IQAS
- Have Canadian Language Benchmark level 7 or higher in English or equivalent
- Commit the time to work towards a successful mentoring relationship
How to Apply
Interested candidates who meet the above qualifications may apply by completing and submitting the application form on the ERIEC website. All applications are screened and assessed by ERIEC prior to acceptance into the program.
Orientation and Support
If accepted into the ERIEC Career Mentorship Program, the mentee must attend an orientation session hosted by ERIEC. Mentees and mentors in the ERIEC program meet up to a minimum of 24 hours over a four-month period. Mentees and mentors must also attend monthly 2-hour intercultural workshops.
ERIEC staff will support the mentee throughout the mentoring process.
Evaluation and Recognition
At the conclusion of the program, mentees are asked to complete an evaluation survey to help ERIEC continually improve service delivery. Mentees will also receive a certificate of participation.
