The Technology Ring

The technology ring is a symbol of professionalism. It is the exclusive domain of Canadian certified technicians and technologists.

The ring is formed by a repeating pattern of five gears bracketed by a maple leaf on each side. It is worn on the smallest finger of the working hand. The ring was created in 1971.

The symbols of the ring are:

  1. The ring represents unity between the members of the Association and the national body (CCTT).
  2. It is worn on the working hand because we like to think that our members are skillful and practical.
  3. The maple leaves were chosen in order that the ring would be acceptable to Certified Technicians and Technologists in all provinces and represent our national symbol.
  4. The five gear teeth are symbolic of the necessary cooperation between the Technicians, Technologists, Engineers, Scientists and the Tradespeople who comprise the 'Engineering Team' for all should be working as closely as the five fingers of the hand.
  5. The ring was made distinctive enough so that the general public could recognize at a glance a Certified Technician or Technologist.
