Technology Careers: Shape the Future

If you are a junior or senior high school student looking for great career options and you have been doing well in math and science, you can find a great 2- or 3-year technology program at a college or technical institute, and you're on your way ahead.

Tech-Knowledge will put you in demand

Math skills, science know-how, computer abilities... These are skills always in high demand in the industry.

There are many options for a career in the applied science, information and engineering technologies. One Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) could be designing the power systems for major commercial building projects; another could be testing and designing life support systems for premature infants; others are working with chemical analysis and monitoring at water treatment facilities—and the list goes on and on.

Some technicians and technologists [what's the difference?] work "in the field" but not necessarily full-time like a tradesperson is more likely to do. Some have "desk jobs" while others vary their work between offices, plants, labs and other facilities. In every case, they are working at the frontiers of Canadian industry, shaping the future!

Never stop learning

Technicians and technologists must continually upgrade their knowledge because advances in engineering and computerization mean constant new and innovative technologies. The key to success is flexibility, curiosity and enthusiasm for learning.
