Technology Accreditation Canada Accredits SAIT Civil Engineering Technology Program
24, Jan, 2019
Technology Accreditation Canada (TAC) today presented the faculty at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) a certificate recognizing national program accreditation for its Civil Engineering Technology program.
The accreditation involved an audit of the program, including interviews with employers of graduates, alumni, students and faculty. In its review of the program, lead auditor Chuck Renkas, A.Sc.T. (Saskatchewan) and auditors Ryan Armstrong, C.E.T. (Alberta), Karl Dean, C.Tech. (British Columbia) and Sandra Smith, C.E.T. (Ontario) noted its broad curriculum which creates a diverse range of employment opportunities for graduates. Employers expressed appreciation that faculty develop a professional approach with students from day one. Graduates bring to the workplace strong technical and time management skills and the ability to successfully adapt to new tasks.
“Academic Chair, Steven Motta, and his team are to be congratulated for this significant achievement,” commented Richard Stamper, TAC Executive Director. “By meeting the standards of the profession, the Civil Engineering Technology program has clearly demonstrated a commitment of excellence to its students and industry.”
Additionally, accreditation provides an expedited path to professional certification through The Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta and other provincial engineering technology and applied science associations across Canada.
“The TAC accreditation process was a rewarding opportunity for the SAIT CVT program to reflect upon its student experience and receive valuable insights from TAC’s external auditors” remarked Steve Motta, Academic Chair.
Through accreditation, TAC is committed to partnering with educational institutions to ensure students receive a quality education that meets the standards of Canada’s engineering technology profession.
