Overview
As other provincial associations in Canada grant similar designations to Alberta, it is important to note that a designation only has effect within the province in which it was issued. Since designations from various associations currently represent different scopes of practice, individuals who possess designations from another province must apply for a designation transfer.
Notes:
- The P.Tech. designation offered in British Columbia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Quebec and Saskatchewan are not equivalent to the P.Tech.(Eng.)/(Geo.) designation offered in Alberta. P.Tech. designations offered in these provinces are equivalent to C.E.T. in Alberta.
- Any engineering/geoscience professional designation (i.e. P.Eng., P.L.Eng., or EIT) from an engineering or geoscience professional regulatory body is not eligible for transfer to the C.Tech., C.E.T. or P.Tech. designations in Alberta.
