Maintaining Your Membership
ASET is a self-regulatory organization under the Engineering and Geoscience Professions Act of Alberta. The Act requires all of ASET’s members need to pay annual dues and all regulated members to comply with a mandatory Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program.
Regulated members refer to those with designations of:
Exempt from Continuing Professional Development are:
- Retired Members
- Unemployed/On Leave Members.

3. A person who is entered in a record or register under this Part or Part 9 of the General Regulation (AR 150/99) shall pay any annual fees that are prescribed by ASET Council pursuant to the ASET bylaws.
4. ASET Council may direct the ASET Registrar to strike the name of a person from a record or register if the person fails to pay a prescribed fee.

16(1). ASET Council established the Continuing Professional Development Program of ASET as the compulsory continuing education program for regulated members.
17. Mandatory Compliance. A regulated member shall comply with the requirements of the Continuing Professional Development Program as it applies to that person's profession of applied science, information technology or engineering technology.

Membership Status Change and Reduced Rates
An active ASET member may qualify for reduced dues as a result of unemployment, low-income, employment leave, illness, temporary unemployment outside of Alberta, or retirement. Please refer to the Membership Renewal page for current rates. To apply, please click on the button below to download the Membership Status Change Form and send your completed form to email@example.com. Members must apply for reduced dues based on an annual basis.
ASET members who were approved for reduced dues but have returned to active practice within Alberta or active members who wish to resign their membership must also complete the Membership Status Change Form to notify ASET of this change.
