Part of the function of ASET as a regulatory body is to ensure the qualifications of applicants as part of the certification process to align with Alberta legislation (the Engineering and Geoscience Professions Act). In accordance with the Act, the ASET Certification Exam (technical) is a requirement for all applicants. As of right now, only those who have graduated from a TAC-accredited program within the recognition dates are eligible for an exemption.
Applicants can attempt the exam three (3) times within their one-year application period. However, they do have the option of writing a technical report should they reach their three-attempt maximum. Candidates can request to write the technical report after their first failed attempt at the ASET Certification Exam.
Applicants who have failed the ASET Certification Exam need to contact ASET at firstname.lastname@example.org to reschedule their exam.
